European yew / Taxus baccata is a very undemanding species growing relatively slowly, which saves a lot of trouble with the cut. If there is needed to create a hedge quickly, it is better to plant bigger grown plants. It grows well in a shade, in a sufficiently moist but not waterlogged soil, but thrives on sunny place, too. For common planting are the best Taxus baccata and Taxus ‘Hicksii’. All green parts of plants including flowers and seeds, except the red follicle fetus are highly toxic. The most common use for hedge heights of 1 – 3 m.
